Francesca Scalera

Francesca Scalera is a research fellow at the Department of Engineering for Innovation, Salento University. In 2004 she took the bachelor degree in Materials Engineering from Salento University, with a thesis on the synthesis of a cellulose based superabsorbent hydrogel as biomedical device for the weight loss in overweight individuals. After two years, she got the master degree working on the design and development of a pilot plant for the scale-up of the production of cellulose-based superabsorbent hydrogel. She received her PhD in July 2011 in Materials and Structure Engineering after a stage research period at Brighton University, School of Pharmacy and Biomolecular Science. Her dissertation was entitled : “Development of methods for bone and cartilage tissue regeneration”.
